Day 3 of our Journey Part 3

These pictures were taken shortly after we got to our hotel in Nanchang. We had a really nice plane trip to Nanchang. I got to sit with a young girl who spoke English as her boyfriend was living and working in Maryland. She was an only child and after seeing pictures of Adriana at school and at home with all her friends she said she was really happy for Adriana because she had so many people who loved her around her. She said that when she was a child she used to sit at home and talk to the walls because she was all by herself. She also said that she wanted to have at least 5 children when she got married. It was very interesting to talk to her and get her perspective on international adoption. She said that people in China were thankful to international adopters as they know that the child have much better lives than they would in China. She didn't think that taking them away from their birth country was a bad thing as she feels that China does not raise independent thinkers. After she told me this she said that she must be more assertive and say what she feels. She then preceded to tap the shoulder of the man in front of her and asked him to raise his seat up as it was in her way! She was really enjoyable to talk to. As I was having fun with Nina, Alphonse was sitting with Adriana and Nya taking care of them. It was pretty funny as when I looked over at them during our meal a bun flew up into the air. He did look at bit harried!

After we settled in to our room Alphonse went to the orphanage office to get things prepared for our orphanage visit. He came back with a 6 foot banner that said,"Welcome home Hong Qing Le". Adriana was quiet pleased with this. The street pictures were taken when we went for a walk before supper as we wanted to buy some water for drinking and brushing our teeth. We went to this little department store and bought a huge jug of water. The Kraus's bought two of them and Stacey's mom bought one. Shortly after we got back to our hotel room Stacey was at our door laughing hysterically. It turned out that our water was 60% proof! Instead of water we had bought 4 bottles of 4.6 litres of rice wine! I guess the reason we were getting all the stares when we walked down the street wasn't because we had such adorable children with us.
